Change a future - Bianca's Story
As a 19 year old on the cusp of an exciting future at University, Bianca is now able to pursue her dreams and realise her potential, because of the opportunities being fostered gave to her.
Bianca told us how being fostered transformed her future..
“Being fostered has completely turned my life around, I was given the opportunity to focus on myself which allowed me to become a person I’m proud of. Having someone who was always there for me every day, made me feel important and helped me realise my potential”
"Before I went into foster care, I suffered with anxiety and depression but having someone who made it really clear they would always be there for me and ready to listen, made me feel less isolated and like I always had someone to go to"
"My Foster Carers gave me the confidence to always strive for what I wanted and try new things, even if it didn’t work out 1st time, I wasn’t afraid to try. I wasn’t scared of being alone, as I knew they would always be there for me no matter what"
Before being fostered, I didn’t think about my future or have the opportunity to focus on myself. Now I know I want to help people and I’m soon going to start studying in London to be a primary school teacher. If I wasn’t fostered, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to consider it as a career.
I’m currently studying for my A levels at college and have had offers from all 5 Universities I’ve applied to. I’d like to be a primary school teacher, with a speciality in Safeguarding so I can attend the LAC reviews to represent children in care.
