Phoenix Hub Takes Flight
We’re delighted to celebrate the launch of Phoenix Hub, our second Mockingbird Hub, bringing foster families together to build connections, share experiences and support one another.
At the heart of Phoenix Hub are experienced foster carers Karen and Sam, who will act as Hub Home Carers, helping create a supportive network for carers and children alike.
Explaining what Mockingbird means to them, Karen said: "It's a group of foster carers who come together to form a family. We'll help bring everyone together through coffee mornings, days out and activities. It's about creating a village around our children."
With more than 20 years of fostering experience, Karen and Sam affectionately describe themselves as "foster grandparents", offering a listening ear, practical support and guidance to other foster families.
"Only foster carers can truly understand what fostering is like," they said. "We've learned a lot over the years, but we're still learning too. Mockingbird gives families a support network where they can help one another and know they're never alone."
A key part of the Hub Home role is providing sleepovers and additional support when needed, giving carers a helping hand while ensuring children have a safe and familiar place to stay.
For Karen and Sam, the most exciting part is seeing relationships develop across the hub.
"The children are only just getting to know each other now, but before long they'll be playing together like they've known each other forever.
Karen and Sam
As Phoenix Hub begins its journey, families can look forward to coffee mornings, shared activities, days out and plenty of opportunities to create lasting memories together.
Phoenix Hub: Rising Together, Thriving Together.
We're excited to see Phoenix Hub grow and flourish, creating lasting friendships and stronger support networks for foster families across Liverpool. As Mockingbird continues to grow in the city, we hope to establish more hubs in the future, giving even more carers and children the opportunity to be part of a supportive fostering community.
